The Florida carpenter ant complex is made up of alot of species, the two most common are: Camponotus floridanus (Buckley) and Camponotus tortuganus (Emery). The brown recluse spider, Loxosceles reclusa, is one of only two common spider groups in the U.S. that is considered poisonous. These spiders have long thin legs, an oval-shaped abdomen, light tan to dark brown in color, a distinctive violin-shaped mark on their backs, and have six eyes. This spider ranges in size from 7 to 12 mm in body length. This spider has been reported numerous times in Florida as a cause of necrotic lesions in humans. Click HERE
