The brown recluse spider, Loxosceles reclusa, is one of only two common spider groups in the U.S. that is considered poisonous. These spiders have long thin legs, an oval-shaped abdomen, light tan to dark brown in color, a distinctive violin-shaped mark on their backs, and have six eyes. This spider ranges in size from 7 to 12 mm in body length. This spider has been reported numerous times in Florida as a cause of necrotic lesions in humans. Click
